Ever since I was a little kid, I've always remembered my Dad having two things in his pockets when he was on the farm. A notebook, and a pocket knife. He would always tell me that a pocket knife is the most useful thing you can carry, and he was right. This was back in the early 90s when there were still a lot of 6 wire fences around, from when sheep and beef was big. As we moved into the 2000s and the rapid growth of the dairy industry, there was an increase of the electric fence. The more electric fences you have the more you should monitor them. By having good power throughout the farm, you are able to control your stock and manage your pasture efficiently.
So now you have in your pocket, a notebook, a pocket knife and a fence tester!
Fast forward to 2017, and the mobile network has dramatically increased its coverage, with cellphone towers popping up all over the country side. Cellphones are no longer for the wealthy, with every man and his dog owning one.
So now you have in your pocket, a notebook, a pocket knife, a fence tester and a cellphone.
When 90% of farmers are rushing out the door to start their day, there is one thing they will always take and three things that will be left behind.
I got sick of never having a fence tester on me when I needed one. The fence tester is one of the most under utilised pieces of equipment a farmer owns.
With that thought in mind I began my journey in developing the G Case. The G Case combines a fence tester with a cellphone case.
Andy is handy, he's a Handy Andy. Every Dairy farmer needs a Handy Andy.
If you have ever changed inflations in a cow shed, then you will agree that it is a c@#t of a job. It's one of those jobs that while you are doing it, you can't help but think "surely there must be a better way".
Well...there is!
It's ANDY
Like I said. Every dairy farmer needs a Handy Andy.
As farmers, we spend a lot of time out in the rain and the wind and the snow. I love it when it's raining so hard that you can barely open your eyes, and the wind is so strong that riding your motorbike in a straight line is impossible. I love it because it makes you feel alive. It makes you feel like a Man.
What I don't like though, is trying to write on a paper notebook during calving in the rain. That just pisses me off.
Yes you can write on a piece of cardboard, and sure there are many types of waterproof notebooks. BUT...none designed for the calving season of Farmers.
Until now that is.
